Multiple ADAS Calibrations: Camera + Radar On 2021 Honda Passport

2021 Honda Passport ADAS Calibration: Camera + Radar Setup Using OEM & Custom Targets

7 Step ADAS: Follow the documentation. Nail the calibration.

Introduction

Today’s calibration covers a 2021 Honda Passport with structural repairs requiring both millimeter wave radar and front multipurpose camera recalibration. Preparing to perform multiple ADAS calibrations can save significant time and energy. The scan tool initially flagged only the radar, but a thorough review of Honda’s documentation revealed that the camera also needed to be calibrated post-collision.

We walk through the static and dynamic calibration process, showcase both OEM and custom-built target systems, and demonstrate how precise measurement and laser setup affect success. If you’re performing Honda ADAS calibrations, this walkthrough highlights what the documentation says vs what the scan tool reports—and why that matters.

Setting Up for Calibration

  1. Documentation Check
    • Reviewed Honda’s “Aiming Driving Support Systems” Version 11 (Nov. 2022)
    • Verified calibration triggers for both radar and camera following structural damage
  2. Vehicle Setup:
    • Verified tire pressure and suspension specs
    • Measured front left and right suspension heights and calculated H2 value
    • Removed cargo and ensured proper weight distribution
    • Checked steering wheel alignment, parking brake, and fuel level
  3. Target + Laser Setup
    • Used laser levels to align 6000 mm distance for the camera and 4000 mm for the radar
    • Compared OEM Honda target system to a custom-built stand using original Honda targets
    • Chose custom stand for improved stability during aiming process
