Background

In our previous videos, we’ve shown how the 7-step method can achieve highly efficient and accurate alignments. Today, we’ll extend these principles to perform three different calibrations in one sequence. The calibrations we will tackle are:

  1. Lane Departure Camera Calibration
  2. Radar Calibration
  3. 360° Front View Camera Calibration

While the vehicle does not require a lane departure warning or lane departure camera calibration at this time, we will still go through the check process for demonstration purposes.

Preparation and Setup

We have already completed the first five steps of the 7-step method. Now, we’ll proceed to set up for all three calibrations in one session. Here’s a brief overview of our approach:

  1. Radar Calibration:
    • Follow Nissan’s setup instructions.
    • Set up the radar plate at the specified distances.
  2. Lane Departure Camera Calibration:
    • Draw lines according to Nissan’s instructions.
    • Utilize the 7-step system with lasers for precise alignment.
  3. 360° Front View Camera Calibration:
    • Use Lexus targets as placeholders due to the similarity.
    • Set up a perfect bounding box similar to a parking spot.

Results and Observations

  1. Lane Departure Warning Camera Check:
    • Successfully completed using the Texa software.
    • Yaw Rate 0.0000
  2. Radar Calibration:
    • Completed within the specified range and confirmed with the software.
    • Horizontal & Vertical Alignment – 0.0
  3. 360° Front View Camera Calibration:
    • The initial setup using Lexus targets provided valuable insights.
    • Future adjustments can be made for precision.

Conclusion

Today’s session demonstrated the efficiency and effectiveness of using the 7-step method to perform multiple calibrations on a 2020 Nissan Altima. We were able to complete three calibrations in less than an hour, showcasing the time-saving potential of this method.
